Collect tip (optional)

Only appears for accounts and deals configured for tips—skip this page if your UI never shows it.

Description

Cashier: some builds show Collect tip after successful redemption when the business opted into cashless tip collection. Manager: train staff not to pressure guests; amounts follow house policy and local labor law—this guide does not set percentages.

Steps

  1. After Redemption success, if a Tip step appears, read the suggested amounts (chips) or Custom entry field.
  2. Confirm with the guest whether they want to add a tip before charging—verbal yes for recorded lines if your jurisdiction requires it.
  3. Tap the chosen amount or enter custom value within min/max if shown.
  4. Hand the device to the guest only if your policy allows; otherwise use customer-facing kiosk mode if the app provides it.
  5. Wait for Tip success or Skipped state; either outcome should return you to Scan home or the next customer flow.
  6. If integrated with payouts, tips may appear in Earnings reports later—see Earnings and transactions; exact fee timing belongs to Legal and contract.

If something goes wrong

  • Tip step loops: cancel or skip if offered, complete redemption first, then take cash tip per policy—do not block the line indefinitely.
  • Guest charged wrong amount: capture receipt IDs and escalate immediately via Support chat.
