Chats tab basics
The Chat tab shows Chats as the home for direct messages plus shortcuts to friends and notifications in the header.
Description
The Chat tab (speech bubble in bottom navigation) opens Chats—a list of your direct conversations, usually with friends or merchants you messaged before. The top row includes Add friend and Notifications icons; those are covered in the next two pages.
Steps
- Tap Chat in the bottom bar.
- Read the large Chats title to confirm you are on the list screen.
- Scroll conversations; an unread badge may appear on avatars or text previews—tap the row to open that thread.
- Inside a thread, type in the composer, attach media if available, and tap Send.
- Use the back gesture or arrow to return to the list.
If something goes wrong
- List empty → you may not have started any chats yet; use Add friend (see Friends and friend requests) or message a merchant from their detail page if the product allows it.
- Messages fail to send → check network; retry after the failed bubble shows an exclamation icon.
