Bottom tabs, roles, and permissions

Set expectations for staff so a reduced tab bar is understood as access control, not a broken app.

Description

The merchant app hides or shows bottom tabs based on your role and permissions (for example scan, orders, staff, analytics). A cashier may only see Scan, Orders, and Profile; a manager may also see Dashboard and Me with full settings. This is normal and matches what your organization enabled for you.

Steps

  1. After you sign in, look at the bottom of the screen and list the tabs you have. Do not compare to a marketing screenshot on the website—use your org’s training handout or this guide.
  2. Scan – voucher verification; see Scan and verify. If missing, you likely lack scan permission; ask a manager to adjust roles in the back office.
  3. Orders – list and detail for sales; see Orders tabs and detail. Absence means your role is not meant to handle order queues.
  4. Reviews – customer feedback for your scope; see Reviews management. Often limited to service or lead roles.
  5. Dashboard / Analytics – performance overview; some orgs limit to management. If you need it for your job, request access with a business reason.
  6. Me – settings, staff, support, and account; see Me settings overview. If you only see Profile instead of Me, you may be on a non-staff (e.g. training) experience—compare with your lead.
  7. When in doubt, take a screenshot of your tab bar and your email and ask your admin to confirm the expected shape for your role.

Use anonymized training screenshots; do not show real customer data.

If something goes wrong

  • You had more tabs yesterday: permissions may have been revoked after a role change; ask your admin before reinstalling.
  • All tabs missing / only a white screen: force-close, update the app from the store, try again; if the session is stuck, sign out and sign in.
  • “I need Scan for my job but it is gone”: that is an access change, not a hidden menu—only your organization can restore it.
